Our local council has had received and rejected an application to change your potential retail unit (shop, post office, cafe, convenience store etc.) to two more apartments in our already overcrowded neighbourhood.

London Borough of Sutton has acted in a democratic way and refused granting planning permission to Bellway Homes, but they are very likely to appeal against council’s decision very soon (by law they could appeal within 6 months from date of the application refusal 03/07/2013) to The Government Planning Inspectorate, Room 3/13, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN; mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please bear in mind that they are many more residential units being built in phase 3 (currently) of the development and as the area becomes overcrowded, there will be even higher demand for such a unit.
If a retail unit does not open now, it will not happen in the future either, as there is not going to be such opportunity.
This is one of many projects that Bellway Homes will complete and leave for the next one. They will be the only ones who will benefit from this transformation (price difference between the retail and residential unit), but the local community will lose significantly. In their application to the Council, Bellway Homes stated that they had advertised for sale the future retail unit on the internet, on – site marketing board, in local newspapers, local press, etc., and there had not been any interest. Do you remember seeing any advertisement boards on the previously installed hoarding?
Unfortunately their only concern is profit and not the welfare and comfort of us all - the residents who will live here for many years to come.
