The Great Park Task Force has been getting continuous feedback from City staff on a regular basis. Separately, the Great Park Resident’s Council has been monitoring the development and progression of the Great Park as well as the work of the City and the Great Park Task Force.

The Great Park Resident’s Council has been concerned about the proposed development of a large-scale (14,000 seat) Amphitheatre in the middle of the Great Park which was to be run by Live Nation, and become a major commercial venue potentially resulting in high traffic, noise from the events, and potential adverse change to our neighborhoods into a highly commercial and touristic part of Irvine.

On September 27th, 2022, the City Council of Irvine approved a design, construction, and operating agreement with Live Nation.

Live Nation has now notified the City of Irvine that they are shifting from their commitments in the agreement and are stepping back from their financial, development, and partnership responsibilities that they agreed to for the amphitheater in Great Park.

The City of Irvine has informed us that they are equally concerned about Live Nation as a partner and are now willing to reconsider a smaller, and more neighborly approach to building an amphitheater at the Great Park. 

Considering the interesting developments and potentially the opportunity to develop a more neighborhood-appropriate venue, we the undersigned hereby support revised plans to build a venue with no more than 8k seats at Great Park in Irvine.
