The Issue

Uttarayan is a festival of joy, celebration, and togetherness, but its beauty is overshadowed by the devastating consequences of using harmful kite threads like glass-coated, Chinese, and nylon threads.

These threads cause severe injuries and deaths to birds and animals, also to humans, leading to heartbreaking losses every year.

Despite the clear directions of the Gujarat High Court to prohibit the use of these hazardous threads, the practice continues, leading to countless tragedies every year.

We, as responsible citizens of India, have a fundamental duty under Article 51A(g) of the Constitution to protect and improve the environment and safeguard the lives of all living creatures.

Let us come together to:

1) Pledge not to use glass-coated, Chinese, or nylon threads during Uttarayan.

2) Take a pledge to save the lives of birds and humans by avoiding the use of glass-coated, Chinese, and nylon threads during Uttarayan, and fulfill our fundamental duty under Article 51A(g) of the Constitution to protect the environment and show compassion for all living creatures

3) Spread awareness about the dangers of these threads and encourage others to make the same commitment.

Every life matters

By making this simple yet powerful change, we can save countless birds, humans, and animals from harm and set an example of how traditions can coexist with compassion and responsibility.

Sign this petition and take a stand for life, nature, and humanity.

Together, let’s celebrate a safe and joyous Uttarayan for everyone!
