Say no to the Swindon Lane/Hyde Lane development proposal

Say no to the Swindon Lane/Hyde Lane development proposal
The Issue
Sign and share this petition if you use the fields between Swindon Lane and Hyde Lane, value access to open countryside, or believe future generations should continue to have easy access to nature close to where they live in Cheltenham.
The developer’s consultation is currently underway, and community feedback submitted at this stage will influence the future of the site. A strong public response is needed now to show decision-makers how important these fields are to the local community before plans for this development move further forward. View the proposal here: https://swindonlane-cheltenham.co.uk. The proposal would see up to 750 homes built on the fields between Swindon Lane and Hyde Lane.
These fields are the only open area of green space, with a public access route, in this part of North Cheltenham. This is especially important with our smaller gardens and higher housing density, in comparison to other areas in Cheltenham. These fields therefore play an especially important role for nearby communities who rely on them for everyday access to nature and open space close to home.
- Let's not let the council underestimate how important this space is for us!
- This is not an area of unused land - this is an already functioning community asset!
- It's these kinds of low-cost spaces, with a highly-positive impact on public health that councils should protect.
This open space is irreplaceable. Once developed, this open, publicly accessed landscape will be lost forever.
