I'm Max Machum, an eleven year old boy in Playa Grande, Costa Rica, and I have started a project to reduce the major use of plastic straws. I created a challenge called #nostrawchallenge #sinpajillaporfavor after seeing the devastating effects on our environment. I am so grateful to everyone who is saying "no straw please". Because of consumer actions, many local restaurants have accepted this challenge. I am simply asking that businesses only serve straws upon request or find a sustainable solution, such as bamboo, stainless steel or other biodegradable and reusable options.  By signing this petition you commit to say "no straw please"  and help raise awareness about this plastic problem and show me you accept this challenge. We can be the change because each 5 minute use of a straw leads to a 500-2000 year disgusting life span of this "one use" plastic. My goal is to be able to share this information with all businesses so that we can make our planet a better place.
