The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and concerned community members, strongly oppose the proposed rezoning of the light industrial lot to a Planned Unit Development (PUD) for the construction of a data center and electric substation in Round Rock, TX on East Old Settlers Blvd (east of A.W. Grimes Blvd) between the Casa Mechanical and Chasco Constructors sites.

Please visit the Protect Round Rock site for more information.

Why This Matters:

  • Protect Our Neighborhood Character: A massive data center and substation are incompatible with the residential nature of our community.
  • Environmental & Health Concerns: Data centers consume enormous amounts of energy and water, while substations raise concerns about noise, emissions, and long-term health impacts.
  • Property Values: The presence of industrial-scale infrastructure in a residential zone threatens to lower property values and discourage future investment in our community.
  • Few Jobs, No Community Benefit: Data centers are highly automated and provide very few permanent jobs. They do not offer services or amenities to residents, meaning the community bears the costs without receiving meaningful benefits.
  • Better Alternatives Exist: The city should prioritize developments that enhance livability — parks, housing, or small businesses — not industrial facilities that erode quality of life.

Our Demand:

We call on the City Council to reject this rezoning proposal and preserve the integrity, safety, and livability of our neighborhood. We urge our elected officials to listen to the voices of residents and protect our community from incompatible industrial development.

Together, we can show the City Council that residents stand united against this rezoning. Add your name to protect our homes, families, and future.
