From one day to another, Telstra has decided to install a really big mobile phone station composed of THREE TOWERS on top of the 220 Barkly Street residential building in St Kilda aka "The Titanic".

There was no previous agreement needed from the Council because it is deemed "LOW IMPACT" and no permit is required.

“Low impact” means “low visual impact” not low impact to our health !!

 

• It's not the way it will look that matters here, but what it will do to us.

This is a very serious threat to the health of our local community and to the people who live, work and visit this area.

According to the telecom official website, we have until the 26th April 2016 to contact the project holders to oppose.

So, why oppose?

Like many of you, I have kids that live in the area and I don’t want them to be exposed to extreme levels of permanent microwave radiations.

This message is not only for parents but for everyone.

This will affect us all the time, day and night; 24/7 all year long.

Please refer to the map to see the extent of the future radiation exposure.

All the citizens in the area should be extremely concerned for their health.

The data comes from the Radio Frequency National Site Archive, the official data monitoring entity, reference # of the tower 3182017

• 200 metres radius around the towers the level of radiation exposure is maximum
• 300 and beyond it is less potent but still very present and still concerning

We cannot ignore the Principle of Precaution because there is no such thing as Safe radiation emissions levels

The lack of reliable research mentioning the danger of those towers is alarming and should be of concern.

The facts are very simple : Those studies are most certainly financed by the industry itself and obviously will never tell you the truth.
Also, the technology is relatively new, at a scientific scale, there have been no long term studies carried out among the population.

Remember the cigarette disaster, the asbestos and so on, the list is considerably long as there are other dozens of health scandals still in progress.

The long term effects might not be good when you get "doused" all year long with microwaves.

There is no research to confirm there is health effects, it avoids acknowledging there is a gaping lack of research to disprove the dangers and harms.

When Australia's leading neurosurgeon, Dr Charles Teo himself, acknowledges the dangerous effects of mobile phone use:

“I see 10 to 20 new patients each week and at least one third of those patients’ tumours are in the area of the brain around the ear. As a neurosurgeon I cannot ignore this fact and while I may personally believe there is a link between brain tumours and EMR exposure, I need evidence to support it."(EMR : Electro Magnetic Radiations)
“Of all the studies in the world literature, of those that show a link, not one has been funded by the telco industry. Of those that show no link, up to 75 per cent have been funded at least partially by industry.”

Technically, it is not as if we were lacking reception in the area and were in a blind spot.

Everybody has reception - it is not needed !!!
The area is already widely covered.

Research into the life-threatening effects of mobile phone tower emissions is notably absent in Australia.

Even without locally published results, schools object to towers being erected within 500 metres of school grounds.

Cherry on the cake :

This one will be less than 20 meters from the ground and the first houses, businesses and pedestrians around.

I'm not even talking about the people living in the building 24/7 who will be sleeping just metres below and around towers with a extremely hight power to emit harmful microwaves 24/7 among the population.
