Say NO to the 71-Home Development in Ivy Trails Subdivision, Hamilton Circle, Bluebird Ln

Say NO to the 71-Home Development in Ivy Trails Subdivision, Hamilton Circle, Bluebird Ln
The Issue
On July 8, 2025, the Planning Commission approved two applications to rezone from A-R Agricultural-Residential District to R-1, Single-Family Residential District for the purpose of detached single-family housing construction. The subject property is located in the northeast corner of Hamilton Circle N and Hamilton Circle W, east of Hummingbird Drive.
The proposed 71-home development located at Hamilton Circle and intersecting with Ivy Trails Subdivision in Olive Branch, MS, threatens our cherished green spaces and vital wildlife habitats and will undoubtedly exacerbate traffic congestion on our streets. As a resident deeply concerned about the future of our community, I urge you to join me in opposing this development plan.
Our green spaces are the lungs of our community, providing essential environmental services such as clean air, stormwater management, and temperature regulation. This development would pave over these precious areas, drastically altering the landscape and diminishing our quality of life.
This development would result in the significant loss of natural habitat for local wildlife, displacing animals that rely on that space for survival. It also reduces the limited green space our community has left—green space that serves not only as a refuge for nature, but also as a vital resource for mental well-being, environmental health, and community connection.
Traffic is another major issue. The addition of 71 new homes means more vehicles on our already crumbling streets, leading to increased traffic, congested parking, and a higher risk of accidents. The cost to maintain the streets would likely result in a considerable public expense.
Instead, we’re urging the Board of Aldermen to DENY APPROVAL unless lot sizes are increased to 20,000 sq ft, which would reduce the number of homes and traffic impact. We propose that the city consider preserving some of its green spaces and focus on preserving natural habitats for wildlife, while promoting community-centric designs.
It's time to take a stand for our environment, our safety, and the legacy we leave for future generations. Please add your voice and sign the petition to Say NO to the 71-home Development in Ivy Trails and Hamilton Circle subdivisions.
