Say No To Samish Way Lane Closures

Say No To Samish Way Lane Closures
The Issue
Say "NO" to additional road diets, road closures, and increased traffic congestion.
The City of Bellingham has closed traffic lanes to cars and trucks on South Samish Way, North Samish Way, East Maple Street, and Ellis Street.
This is what the City euphemistically calls a "Road Diet."
Bill McDonald Parkway is already congested, so is South Samish Way to Lincoln Street, and South Samish Way to the Interstate 5 on-ramp to the freeway Northbound. Lakeway Drive is already to capacity, so is Holly Street.
Freeway off-ramps are now dangerous because City created congestion on surface streets (designed to move traffic along) prevents traffic on the freeway from being able to exit.
The City has already closed a lane on Chestnut Street, and blocked Humboldt Street from Lakeway Drive to Edwards. Bike riders and pedestrians already have bike lanes on Lincoln Street and bike "sharrows" have been installed on North 34th street, Bill McDonald Parkway, and other surrounding streets.
Road closures and "Road Diets" just make more traffic congestion, and create more accidents and injuries.
Say "NO" to punishing people who need to drive cars and trucks to get to work, school, and other necessary places.
