Our democracy is built on the principle that we, the people, choose our elected officials—not a small group of politicians. But right now, some Charles County Commissioners are pushing to impose retroactive term limits that would unfairly disqualify candidates from running in future elections, even if voters still support them.

This is not about fair governance. It’s about concentrating power and limiting voter choice. No one should get to decide who we can vote for—except us.

Retroactive term limits:

We support fair term limits moving forward if they reflect the will of the community, but retroactive limits cross a line.
