Say NO to Puppy Mill Trafficking in Stamford, CT.

Say NO to Puppy Mill Trafficking in Stamford, CT.
The Issue

Puppy mill traffickers are moving into Connecticut because New York passed a law banning puppy-selling stores in 2022. Unsuspecting consumers buy puppies in retail stores not knowing that they often come from cruel puppy mills across the U.S. Deceptive marketing tactics, such as “USDA approved,” “sourced from local breeders” or "AKC registration” are meant to assure customers that the puppies are humanely raised and treated. The truth is, under federal law, puppy mill dogs can be confined in cages just six inches larger than their bodies for their entire lives.
Metal cages are commonly used, causing deformities in the dogs’ paws, as they never get to stand on solid ground. Keeping puppies in frigid or sweltering temperatures for up to four hours is also allowed, and it is often much longer. The dogs are bred over and over again until exhaustion.
To ensure Stamford stops supporting this cruelty, please sign this petition to urge Mayor Simmons to support a ban on the sale of puppies in pet stores. Thank you for caring.
