Feedback and We NEED your HELP to start ASMAA’s Charity shop Dear friends / Caros amigos (PT proximas noticias) We’ve had so far a very busy November with lots happening in past two weeks. Let me give you a quick rundown of events: 1. 6 November we participated in the “Pontes pelo Clima” event which took place at the Portuguese/Spanish bridge linking the Algarve to Huelva. http://portugalresident.com/anti-oil-protests-mark-this-week-as-300-demonstrate-on-guadiana-bridge 2. 12 November the Algarve was very well represented in Lisbon at the manifestation “Salvar o Clima – Parar o Petroleo”. See the photos here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1955097064507243&type=3 3. 14 November – The “oil and gas does not mix” mural went up in a Lagos wall funded by some of your donations. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1958306154186334&type=3 4. 15 November we received confirmation by the Portuguese Parliament that our reply to questions posed by them and which we had sent to them the previous week, relating to our objection petition against the granting of a TUPEM licence to the consortium ENI/Galp would be submitted to the Commission at their next meeting. 5. 16 November – we’ve had the first indications that Partex (Gulbenkian) wants to pull out of the offshore drilling consortium in with Repsol is the principal contractor. Meaning that the huge public outcry against Gulbenkian and its 100% ownership of Partex is now paying dividends – as Gulbenkian evaluates the damage costs to its Corporate Reputation versus potential future financial gains. Let’s hope they do pull out … http://algarvedailynews.com/news/10367-partex-chairman-bows-out-ungracefully-from-algarve-oil-exploration As you can see, much has been done … now let me share with you what else we busy with: 1. We are now busy planning the opening of ASMAA’s charithy shop in January/February in Lagos. In this shop we plan to include a very small coffee shop as a meeting place for all our supporters and friends. Read more about it here: http://www.asmaa-algarve.org/en/news/what-s-new/help-asmaa-set-up-its-first-charity-shop-in-the-algarve 2. We busy with the planning of a 16 week Civic Society Driven “People’s Referendum” on offshore drilling and fracking in the Algarve – 16 weeks – 16 council regions. This is to be followed by another “Banners on the Beach” campaign during the summer months. 3. Finalising the official launch of the ASMAA’s Algarve Business Directory. A web based Internet portal that will showcase local businesses. http://www.asmaa-algarve.org/en/?option=com_k2&view=item&id=993&Itemid=1030 And we still gathering petition signatures, collating and verifying current signatures, etc … But we can’t do all without your continuous support. We grateful for all the support received to date as it has enabled us to do what we needed to do up to now. DONATE NOW SO THAT ASMAA CAN OPEN ITS FIRST CHARITY SHOP Our most pressing funding requirements are the need to raise 5000 euros to set-up the ASMAA charity shop. Funds raised will help us to cover the cost of 3 months rent and the rental deposit, shop fittings, maintenance and building repair, money till, insurance, etc. and if you want to donate any of your unwanted items we’ll be grateful too … DO BE GENEROUS AND DONATE 25 €, 50 €, 100 €, 250 €, 500 € ... or whatever amount you would like to assist with.
