The Issue

The Park Board has approved paid parking at several more sites but it's not too late to make your voice heard! Please continue to sign the petition and join the discussion…..

We strongly oppose the Park Board Parking Strategy.

Among the proposals is the troubling decision to charge $25 for parking at VanDusen Botanical Garden's Festival of Lights event.

Among the list of other proposals is to start charging $3.50 an hour for parking at Hillcrest, Kerrisdale, and Trout Lake community centers for non-center users from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. This appears to be a cash grab dressed up as a parking strategy.

This decision will have negative effects on our community and local venues, the Shaughnessy Restaurant among them. $25 for parking at VanDusen Gardens is nothing short of daylight robbery.

Visitors should be  entitled to free parking at community centre carparks  and the freedom to enjoy walks around Trout Lake and other public areas. New parking fees will severely restrict access and create significant hardships.

We urge the commissioners to reject this proposal to serve the best interests of our community.

Please support this petition and have your say. Please share this with others.
