A new bill recently introduced by U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar would strip federal protections for the critically endangered Mexican gray wolf, ending recovery for this imperiled species. This bill is one of the most dangerous that there is, prompting potential extinction for the Mexican wolf and diminishing every ounce of effort put in by SSP (Species Survival Plan) and AZA SAFE (American Association of Zoos and Aquariums Saving Animals from Extinction) facilities.

This bill is reckless and undermines Mexican wolves' plight, sensitive wild populations, and all the effort put into saving them, all for the interest of the cattle and livestock industries, despite wolves only causing 0.2% of all livestock deaths in the United States.
