I hope everyone is having a pleasant holiday season.
If you have not already heard, the Town of Babylon has passed a resolution to begin the process of rezoning the 100 acres on Little East Neck Road and Long Island Avenue (read about it HERE). At the Town Board meeting on December 17, 2025, Supervisor Schaffer offered Resolution 848 to amend a local law that will allow the rezoning to move forward. As you know we are very much against this rezoning. This project is too massive for our small residential neighborhoods and will permanently alter the character of our entire community.
Before the Town can move forward, the Suffolk County Planning Commission has to weigh in. They are required to respond to the Town within 45 days, so the vote will be on the Planning Commission's agenda at their first meeting of the year, Wednesday January 7th at 2:00 PM. I urge all who are able to PLEASE ATTEND THIS MEETING AND MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD! It is important to let our county leadership know that we do not approve of this project -- it is an environmental behemoth unsuited for our area.
