Greetings,

I am honored to annouce and cordially invite you to witness the first ever Cosmetology Honorary License Presentation that will take place during the upcoming Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Barber and Cosmetology Board Meeting.

TDLR will present a Cosmetology Honorary License in honor of Shelbi Stephens who was tragically killed in car accident due to a drunk driver in 2019. This tragedy stripped Shelbi of her dream of pursuing her career as a Texas Licensed Cosmetology Professional shortly after completing the required Cosmetology School hours.

See her story here:  https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/young-mother-identified-as-victim-in-wrong-way-crash/252338/

I want to share that I know this family personally and as an industry professional that serves as a Texas Cosmetologist, Salon Owner, and Continuing Education Provider, I felt obligated to making this honorary request known to TDLR in order to assist the family in finding comfort knowing that Shelbi's hard work was not in vain.

I can't stress enough that the Texas Barber and Cosmetology Industry is one unit through thick and thin. We fight against and for legislation, and we stand with each other when tragedy occurs because we feel each others pain.

I have provided the Barber and Cosmetology Board Meeting information below and we welcome your presence.

Kind regards ~ Sharla Wooten
