Coming Up: Barber and Beauty Challenge Week

Hi All,
A couple of weeks ago I launched a Nationwide Barber and Beauty Voter Registration Challenge and the feed back has been so great that September 6th - 12th has been designated as Barber and Beauty Registration Week. This is an opportunity for the Texas Barber and Cosmetology industry to show how united we are and how we serves a pillars within our communities. To be honest, we all may be servicing non registered voters such as recently graduated high school students, new to the state residents, eligible formerly incarcerated persons, or even a non voter. I can honestly say that I have worked with these individuals and have serviced quite a few of them myself and getting them registered to vote was a proud feeling of accomplishment for us all. Some of you may already be registering people to vote and I thank you for all of your efforts. If are still considering doing so please know that we want you to join us! Texas voter registration deadline for the 2020 Election is October 5th, 2020 and there is no time to spare. This is a bi partisan (no specific political party) cause assisting in the 2020 nationwide voter registration initiative. Will you accept the challenge?
The Challenge
- Sign up to be a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, who is entrusted with the responsibility of officially registering voters in the State of Texas. A VDR is appointed by county voter registrars and charged with helping to increase voter registration in the state. Acceptance of the duties of volunteer deputy registrar places you in a position of trust and responsibility to the citizens you will register to vote. Being a VDR also extends the authority to hosting a voter registration drive at your establishment or with partnered community events. Locate your county office below. https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/votregduties.shtml
- If you do not want to become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, you can simply pick up some voter registration cards to have readily available within your establishment. You will be surprised as to who will grab and go!
The Texas Barber and Cosmetology Industry is UNITED and STRONG, and I know we can collectively get this done as independent operators and as barbershop or salon team efforts. Remember that this is a bi partisan initiative to educate on the importance of exercising the right to vote. Accept the challenge, share with others, and let's get this done! Show us your pictures using the hashtag #BBVoterChallenge.
