Dear neighbors,

I hope this message finds you well.

First and foremost, thank you for your continued support and efforts throughout the summer. It seems as though our efforts have paid off for the most part, and we could not have come this far without your dedication and commitment.

I am excited to share some positive developments with you. As you may recall, we met with Dan Fryer of Pleasants about a month ago. During this meeting, Mr. Fryer confirmed that they are planning to develop age-restricted villas on the 1150 Potomac View Parkway (1150 PVP) instead of Frederick Primary Care Associates (FCPA)’s medical building. They have also offered FCPA an alternative site within the Marketplace commercial area.

Pleasants’ proposal (“BR-PUD-24-02 – Phase 2 and 3 Revision”) has been submitted to the City of Brunswick ahead of their upcoming Sept 23rd Planning Commission meeting. Pleasants is proposing to change the site from an assisted living site to “18 age targeted villa lots”. Next, the Commission needs to approve their plans during the meeting on Sept 23rd. You can find the Pleasants’ submission on the City’s Planning Commission webpage (refer to the “2024-09-23…BC PUD Rev” link). You can find the overall meeting agenda there as well.

As we approach the “last mile” of our efforts, it is crucial that we remain united and show our support for Pleasants’ plans (BR-PUD-24-02). We encourage you to attend the Sept 23rd Planning Commission meeting to show your support. If you are unable to attend, please consider sending an email to the City expressing your support. You can use the form letter available at the end of this message.

Additionally, we are planning to submit a statement on behalf of the group ahead of that meeting. This will include a mention of our petition. Please keep an eye on our Facebook group for more updates.

I also want to extend a thank you to those who “chipped in” to help promote the petition on change.org. I apologize for not being aware of this feature when we chose the online petition platform. The funds do not go to me or our group, but hopefully, they helped push our petition closer to the “top of the stack” online. In the future, I will be mindful of this feature when choosing an online petition platform.

With your continued support, we are confident that we can ensure the 1150 PVP remains residential, preserving the integrity and character of our community.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support and dedication. Let’s cross this final hurdle together!

Best regards,

Gloria Shin, your neighbor

To the Planning Commission:

I hope this message finds you well. My name is [NAME] and I’m a resident of Brunswick Crossing. I am writing to express my support for Pleasants’ proposal/submission (BR-PUD-24-02) to convert the assisted living site/former Frederick Primary Care Associates (FCPA) site (at 1150 Potomac View Parkway) to 18 age-restricted villas, and have FCPA build in the Marketplace area instead. I am grateful for the time and effort the city has invested in hearing and considering our neighborhood’s concerns regarding this project.

I firmly believe that approving BR-PUD-24-02 will lead to positive outcomes for Brunswick and all its residents. I am looking forward to a favorable decision from the Planning Commission.

Sincerely,
