SAY NO TO DATA CENTERS IN JOLIET!

The Issue

‼️🚨SAY NO TO DATA CENTERS IN JOLIET!‼️🚨

THE ISSUE:  Hillwood, a massive real estate and land development company from Texas, is pushing to build one of the largest data center campuses ever proposed in the ENTIRE Chicago region, right here in Joliet/Elwood. Their plan is to build up to 24 gigantic buildings sprawling across 800 acres of farmland east of Chicagoland Speedway, known as Bernhard Farms. Tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and XAI, will profit from these data centers while WE pay the price.

WHO WILL BE IMPACTED?

🫵 YOU. YOUR FAMILY. YOUR COMMUNITY. This project will affect every single resident of Joliet and Elwood...and it won’t stop there. Local wildlife and farmland will be impacted in the process.

WHAT IS AT STAKE?

💰 Your Wallet: Data centers consume *enormous* amounts of electricity and water to power and cool their systems. Guess who the costs get passed down to????? Taxpayers like YOU.

🌎 Your Environment: These centers will drain local water supplies, pollute the air, and place an enormous strain on Will County’s resources. Not to mention, data centers are extremely LOUD, especially for the people who live closest to them.

🫁 Your Health: Increased pollution and industrial stress will harm public health. This will especially impact children, seniors, and vulnerable residents.

NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT:

YOU deserve a voice in what happens to your community. The citizens of Joliet and Elwood deserve a say so in what happens in their community. These tech giants don’t live here but YOU DO. They’ll be laughing to bank with profits all while YOU and YOUR LOVED ONES deal with the higher bills, a damaged environment, and long-term health consequences. They say jobs will be brought to the community but at what cost?

***IMPORTANT*** A public meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, in the second-floor council room at Joliet City Hall (150 W. Jefferson St.). Show up. Speak out.

Say NO to AI data centers in Joliet and let officials know that we don’t want this in our community!  ✊ Sign this petition to protect your city, your health, and your future! Don’t let corporations drain our water, pollute our air, and destroy our land — all for their profit. Make your voice heard NOW before it’s too late.

And if you’re still unsure of if you oppose data centers being built in Joliet/Elwood, I strongly advise you to please research what has happened to other communities where these data centers have been built.

Even if you see this petition and you’re not a Joliet/Elwood resident, you should be concerned if you are located in a neighboring community as this will not stop with Joliet/Elwood. They will try to bring data centers to your community as well. Not to mention, pollution from data centers travel to neighboring communities because pollutants don’t stay near their emission sources.
