With Brexit, the British showed the red card to the EU. Europe is now in its deepest crisis. But we will not let the EU break apart and we will not tolerate blackmail between the EU and UK. We want a democratic relaunch. 

The EU was the answer to two horrific world wars. It promised peace, democracy and solidarity. But the current political elites have failed to govern in the public good. This cannot go on. We want a democratic relaunch of the EU to bring it much closer to the people. 

For this we need a constituent assembly (a Convention according to Art. 48 of the Lisbon Treaty) to discuss the future of Europe and to implement urgent reforms. This Convention should not meet behind closed doors, but should debate with citizens, civil society and parliamentarians of all countries: why do we need Europe, what needs to change for the better, what kind of a Europe do we actually want? All European citizens – including the British – should then vote together on the outcome.
