If you are receiving this email, it is because you have been a supporter of opposing Automatic Textbook Billing in the past. We are facing a similar fight this year. Please see the following: 

I hope you're doing well. My name is Jennifer Croughwell, and I am reaching out to ask for your support in opposing any proposed bookstore contracts that include Automatic Textbook Billing and/or Equitable Access at Eastern.
Currently, Eastern students typically spend around $200 per semester on textbooks, purchasing them in ways that best suit their budgets—whether through used books, rentals, or digital options. However, under an automatic billing model, students would be automatically charged this amount or more, regardless of whether they need all the books or can find them at lower prices elsewhere. Instead of an opt-out model that forces students into these fees, we are advocating for an opt-in option that allows students to choose if they want to participate.
Last year, a similar proposal was nearly implemented, but thanks to advocacy efforts—including student petitions and testimony at the Board of Regents meeting—we successfully prevented it. Unfortunately, this issue has resurfaced, and I am working to ensure that Eastern does not move forward with any contracts containing these provisions.
I have started a petition urging President Ismaili to oppose any bookstore contract that includes automatic textbook fees, and I would truly appreciate your support. Our goal is to reach 100 signatures by Tuesday for the University Senate Meeting.
