Mast due to be erected during this week

St Ann’s councillors are really disappointed to see EE’s contractor making preparations to put up their 15 metre tall telecommunications mast at the entrance to Lower Road this morning and frustrated that we haven’t been able to stop it being erected.
We all want to see improved mobile coverage, but the siting of masts should take account of the local environment particularly the unique character of the Faversham Conservation area. EE have ignored the views of Swale Borough Council and the Government’s Planning Inspectorate who turned down very similar applications because the mast would be ‘out of character, visually intrusive and detrimental to the character of the area’. EE have also ignored the views of local residents, nearly 400 of whom have signed our petition asking EE to go through a proper process to find the right location for their mast.
