There’s an important story on page 3 of The Australian today, highlighting concerns about the Wilderness Society’s relationship with The Ross Trust, developer of the Arthurs Seat quarry.

(It’s paywalled, but you can read the text on our Facebook page)

For nearly a year now we’ve been pleading with The Wilderness Society – a recipient of funding from the Ross Trust – to speak out about the Trust’s plans for the quarry and to reconsider their future financial relationship with the Trust. To no avail.

We get no pleasure in criticising another environmental group in the media, but the Wilderness Society’s position is untenable. As Mark Fancett says in the article: “It would be like a cancer hospital accepting donations from… cigarette companies.”

Will you help us send a strong message to the Wilderness Society that it’s unacceptable for them to stay silent on the quarry while they are accepting money from the Ross Trust?

Please post your comments on the Wilderness Society Facebook Instagram and Twitter pages using the hashtag #SaveArthursSeat

If grant recipients start speaking out, then the Ross Trust will come under increasing pressure to abandon plans for this quarry.

Thanks again for your support.
