Petition to Halt the Construction of the Biofuel Plant near Our Homes.
We, the undersigned residents of Summerfield/Douglas South Surrey & White Rock, collectively express our deep concern and opposition to the proposed construction of a biofuel plant by Andion in close proximity to our homes.
We believe that the establishment of such a plant would have detrimental effects on our quality of life, property values, and overall well-being.
Our objections to this development are as follows:
1. Odor and Air Quality: We are deeply concerned about the potential for noxious odors emanating from the biofuel plant scheduled to run all year round. These odours could disrupt our ability to enjoy our backyards, necessitate the constant closure of windows, and adversely impact the air quality in our neighbourhood.
2. Noise Pollution: The operation of a biofuel plant typically involves machinery and processes that generate significant noise levels, which can disrupt the peace and tranquility of our residential area.
3. Property Values: The presence of a biofuel plant so close to our homes has the potential to reduce property values in our neighborhood. Potential buyers may be deterred from investing in properties that are located near industrial facilities with associated odors and noise.
4. Health Concerns: We are worried about the potential health risks associated with the emissions and byproducts of the biofuel plant, as well as the long-term health implications for our families. There have been reports of health risks from locals surrounding the plant in Europe.
5. Traffic concerns: Constant flow of smelly Organic Waste Trucks driving though our neighbourhood, and border flow through traffic.
6. Environmental concerns: with the little Campbell being so close and so many beautiful old trees that will have to be cut down to build such a big project.
We, the undersigned, kindly request that the relevant authorities, including Local Government, reconsider the approval of permits for the construction of the biofuel plant and engage in a thorough and transparent assessment of its potential impact on our community. We believe that alternative locations for the plant should be explored to ensure that our neighborhood remains a safe, peaceful, and desirable place to live.
We urge you to prioritize the well-being and interests of the residents who will be directly affected by this development. We believe that our concerns are valid and require serious consideration.
Sincerely,
Names and Signatures of Neighbours
