We did it!

City of Sydney council has rejected McDonald's application for a 24/7 food premises in King St, Newtown.

Thanks to over 1,500 people who signed the Change.org petition, and another 1,400 or so who emailed an actual submission to the council !

Special thanks to a young man named Liam who created a buzz on social media and set up an automated form for most of those submissions.

The council planning panel has listened to the voices of the community, as well as their own experts who recommended rejecting it largely on the basis of public safety. 

This shows how we can push back against the might of big corporations if we band together.
