*YEAR 10 MEETING MONDAY TOP OVAL RE FORMAL (August 7th)

Year 12 formal has been an integral aspect of Saint Ignatius' College for decades, providing its students an opportunity to foster a sense of community and celebrate their school journey so far. This usually occurs for both Year 11 and 12s, at the very beginning of the year. 

The school has decided that from 2025 formal will only exist as a Year 11 event and will not occur in Year 12. This has been supported by a variety of reasons including the financial burden for families, the issue of alcohol, and the enormous size of both cohorts.

We are seeking your support for the continuation of the Year 12 formal, through sharing and signing this petition. We acknowledge that the reasoning for removing the formal is important, therefore that we all have the willingness to make compromises that will cater to the issues at hand. 

If necessary, discussions among the cohort have revealed that we are more than willing to organise fundraising for a budget-friendly formal event to remove the financial pressures that some families experience for these events. This is among a number of solutions, also including the possible removal of external school dates to assist with ease of organisation and a date that prevents the issue of alcohol licensing.
