Thank you to everyone out there who has shared or signed to this petition. Like i have said before, the people who have shared or signed are technically saving 160 000 square kilometres of ocean environment, ecosystem and biodiversity.
Yes, i do know the Mexican government is planning to put a ban on gillnets in January 2023, but you have to put it before then. There are 4 whole months till then. How will 10 vaquitas survive for four whole entire moths when gillnets surround them, fishing practises continue and every country in the world wants these one type of shrimp, the Mexican shrimp. If billions of people want to eat these one type of shrimp, (prawn) and fishermen continue to fish to feed these billions of people how will there be any shrimp for you in the future. If you fish for a fixed amount of shrimp every year, the eco-system will remain for generations to come.
There needs to be punishment for those who do fish in these waters, there needs to be a longer banning span and there needs to be more action for saving the vaquitas. Not all of these things need to be done by the government, you can raise awareness to bring more action on this. thank you to all those who have already done so in the last few months.
