You are someone who is helping and saving not only the vaquita, but the whole entire ecosystem of the northern gulf of California, since the vaquita is an umbrella species. Which means if you sign this petition you could potentially be saving 43 marine mammals species, 700 fish species and 170 types of seabirds.
If you can't sign this petition but are eager to help here are some ways you can.
1. Tell all your friends and family: What is happening to the vaquitas in Mexico.
2. You could Volunteer to help save the vaquitas: We want all the help we can get.
3. Make posters or flyers: to raise awareness of the vaquitas left in the world: Hang them up where people can see them like public parks.
4. Involve the community to help save the vaquitas: So we can raise as much awareness as possible.
5. Avoid Mexican shrimp: So that the vaquitas will recover because they fish for Mexican shrimp where the vaquitas get caught in the net, because they fish in the vaquitas homes.
6. Shop for ONLY sustainable seafood: So it will not effect the vaquitas.
7. Support the gulf of California: To protect these beautiful mammals.
8. Donate to conservation efforts: So they can save the vaquita with the donations.
9. Tell the Mexican government to do something: Write a letter✉️ to the Mexican government.
10. Write letters to companies that sell Mexican shrimp: To persuade them to stop selling Mexican shrimp.
