The Committee on the Future of Curling in Windsor-Essex released its official response to the City of Windsor's recent budgetary agenda item, 11-9 Roseland Golf and Curling Redevelopment. You can find that response in its entirety as well as the agenda item HERE
Here is an excerpt from that response:
We believe there are currently three options under consideration:
- Renovate, and upgrade, the existing Roseland clubhouse,
- Demolish the existing clubhouse, replace it with a smaller facility for golf, and add a separate fit-for-curling facility to the Roseland property, or
- Demolish the existing clubhouse, replace it with a smaller facility for golf, and relocate curling to an existing (surplus) ice hockey arena.
Our priority remains to save the existing Roseland clubhouse.
On Monday, April 3rd at 10:00 am, City Council is preparing to deliberate and discuss this topic. The committee is sending forth a delegation to present on behalf of not only all the Roseland curlers but every one of you who has signed this petition.
A show of support from the curling community would be welcome. The committee will speak on curler’s behalf to either keep Roseland open to curling, or to have a voice in whatever alternate decisions might be made. Everyone is invited to bring their curling brooms and show silent support during the meeting.
