#SaveFairerAberdeenFund
The Issue
The Fairer Aberdeen Fund has previously been allocated by Aberdeen City Council to tackle poverty and deprivation. In 2022-23 funding of £1.6m was made available to support work in priority areas and across the city with vulnerable groups and individuals. Funding was awarded to 38 projects and a total of 35,000 people involved in or benefitting from the initiatives. Significant volunteering time helped to bolster the effect and impact of the funded initiatives.
Aberdeen City Council are holding their annual budget meeting on Wednesday 1st March to agree the City Budget for 2023 - 24 and there is a significant list of cuts being discussed, including stopping the Fairer Aberdeen Fund in its entirety.
This simply cannot be allowed to happen! There has been no time to react to this proposal, so please help the most vulnerable in our local community by signing this petition to #SaveFairerAberdeenFund.
