Our hope is that through this collaborative community art mural we can begin to take the intrinsic senses of the people and lead them towards positive engagement. The piece represents the aesthetics of color, line, shape, and value. Each of these seemingly dis separate elements represents "us"the people as individuals that ask to be unified by both variety and balance. Although balance and change occurs between dominance of color scheme between the five panels, the example of variety remains at its core. In the same way, this shape of green space remains in our hearts and minds because it represents the lines of connectivity, the restful green, the warmth and juxtaposition of brick, the added texture of new upon old structures and the memories and stories of the process of working with community and governance to create it.
This central green space is an iconic principles of what begins as a dominant color scheme of red, yellow and orange is balance that have a hand, heart and brushstroke on this central green space people thinking and asking questions. The piece represents a footprint of a non specific map. You will notice the color scheme is dominant reds/oranges on the first piece. The second one has dominant red/orange again with one small spot of green. After that they each gains more green until it is more or less balanced. We want to show how a great and revitalized downtown has a good balance of development and green space. We hope this can raise awareness to just how important it is to save Center City Park!
Don't forget to enjoy the Rotary Summer Concert Series going on at the pavilion after you drop in for a few minutes to help paint a section of the art piece!
