The pub that gave Swiss Cottage its name is now officially up for sale. Thanks to The Belsize Society’s work, it has been listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) — protecting our right to make a community bid. The owners are already appealing this status, and the Society will support Camden in defending it.

Since its sudden closure on 1 February, we’ve been working with The Belsize Society and CAMRA North London to protect its future. Over 2,200 people have already signed our petition (thank you — please keep sharing!).

The Belsize Society has triggered the legal process for a community bid, giving us until 8 February 2026 to put together a viable offer. While they are not bidding themselves, they are enabling others — individuals, groups, or organisations — to step forward.

Our goal is simple: to bring back Ye Olde Swiss Cottage as a thriving pub and community hub. Over 200 pubs across the UK have already been saved this way — and with your support, Swiss Cottage can join them.
