SAVE YDR at PS127!
The Issue
As a dedicated Program Director, who cares deeply about the impact our services have on the families and community we serve at PS127, at this time our YDR program, which has been a staple since 2008, is now under threat of being removed from the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) after school program lineup as a result of the recent RFP for services. I am reaching out because I strongly believe in the positive change and support this program offers to our youth and their parents alike.
For over a decade, our YDR program has been providing outstanding services that not only enhance the educational and personal development of our students but also build a sense of community. Our staff is committed and passionate about making a difference, and it shows in the progress and contentment of the children we work with. Parents and community members alike have voiced their frustration and concern over this sudden decision to dismantle something so crucial.
The abrupt removal of this cherished program affects more than just a schedule or a classroom. It leaves a gap in guidance, mentorship, and opportunity that our youth desperately need. We have witnessed firsthand the struggles and triumphs of our students, and to lose such a supportive framework would be a disservice to them and to our community at large.
We cannot stand idly by as this impactful program is dismissed. This isn't just about maintaining status quo; it's about ensuring that our youth have the resources and support they need to thrive. WE URGE DYCD TO REINSTATE the YDR programming at PS127 for September 2026 IMMEDIATELY!
By signing this petition, you are lending your voice to a cause that values community, supports educational growth, and champions the support systems our youth require. Join us in standing firm against the dissolution of a program that has been the bedrock of positivity and growth for so many. Let's make sure our community's voice is heard and that the services our children depend on are preserved. Sign now to make a difference.
