Yes. That’s right.
A little win in the fight against the machine that is Age UK.
The application to list Woodcot as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act has been validated by South Hams District Council.
Now. Don’t get your hopes too soon all you lovely people who have signed, donated and spread the word - there is still a long way to go… but it’s important to celebrate life’s little wins.
No-one wants to badmouth a charity but what Age UK are doing with Woodcot is wrong. A covenant is a legally binding contract which must be respected. All charities rely on people leaving gifts in their wills. If Age UK trash Miss Jennings covenant- it is a nail in the coffin for other charities who rely on legacies to survive.
Age UK are out for themselves- their own bottom line is all that matters to them where Woodcot is concerned.
No consideration for the myriad local charities that fundraise at Woodcot thanks to Miss Jennings generosity.
No. The truth is that Age UK execs, with the tacit approval of the Age UK Trustees are using their own charitable funds ( donated by generous hearted people) to pay expensive lawyers to overturn the covenant which favours their own beneficiaries.
Yes that’s what they’re doing folks… make no mistake … When Miss Jennings gave her family home and grounds to charity she did so on One Condition: that it remain as a residential home for old people. She spent many hours and much money putting a restrictive covenant on Woodcot making sure that her wishes would be honoured and respected.
Shamefully Age Uk are seeking to overturn this so they can get their hands on some easy money.
Well. Not. On. Our. Watch. #Age UK Trustees
