HI
Just an update on wolverton works. Gemini rail group who now operate from the wolverton site have confirmed that they are advertising over 100 new jobs at wolverton. This will bring the total workforce up to close to 700. Network rail have rejected plans for the new entrance off McConnell drive planned by St Modwen Netork rail will not allow another level crossing on the network. This has come from months of emailing network rail and conduction a site visit.
St Modwen still plan to demolish the whole site which will result in jobs loses of up to 300 members of staff as the works will go from a 38 hector site to a 6 hector site which is not big enough for the level of staff they have and given they will need railway sidings car parks loading and unloading areas for lorries
Council Leader Peter Marland Still states the site is derelict even though he has been sent photo's show a site which is in continuous use he refuses to come forward and admit he is wrong by saying demolition of the site is needed to create new homes. Given the fact the that new homes will not ease te housing crises because those who really need the housing will not be able to live in those on the works site.
