Kent County Council are proposing to close 38 Childrens Centres in Kent. In Whitstable they want to close the centres at Joy Lane and Swalecliffe. They expect families to travel to a new Family Hub in Canterbury.

We oppose the closure of these centres. We believe centres should be in dedicated buildings in close walking distance of communities - forcing families to travel by bus is unaffordable for many.

Locating services at schools helps reduce the stigma of using them. Whitstable needs a dedicated local service.

Kent County Council are cutting services at a time when struggling families need them the most.
