The NSW Government want to increase the number of homes in our neighbourhood by a staggering 388 per cent, making it twice the density of Sydney's most populated suburbs. To make matters worse, despite being on public land, only 28 of the additional 4,788 homes on the Estate are dedicated to social housing and only 340 will be affordable housing. In the Metro Quarter, only 70 are social housing and 35 affordable
We need a planning system for our neighbourhood that puts people and communities -- not commercial interests -- back at the heart of the planning system.
I ask you again to join me in calling for The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian MP, Premier of New South Wales, and The Hon. Michael Daley MP, leader of the Opposition, to immediately commit to returning planning for the Waterloo redevelopment to the City of Sydney Council and give it back to our community.
