Ethos Environmental Planning have submitted A Biodiversity Net Gain report, (October 2021), which concludes that a BNG of 4.29% is now achievable at this site. So that's gone from a loss of -27% to a gain of 4.29%!?
On the 26th October the Government's new Environment Bill was passed and a Biodiversity Net Gain of +10% became law on all new building developments.
Interestingly since then another BNG report/metric from Ethos which now indicates that a BNG of +9.99% is achievable?! As yet the latest BNG report has not been uploaded.
As with all plans in this application, it would seem that a Biodiversity Metric calculation can be tweaked endlessly and quickly by developers and planners until the desired outcome is achieved.
Sustainable Warminster are currently investigating how three BNG reports can all give such widely varying outcomes and where the inconsistencies lie.
