Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support! 2500+ signatures!
On the morning of Thursday, March 6th it was noted that KROC removed the 4 traps that were employed. Wally was not taken away with the traps, and has since been spotted at the lake alive.
Furthermore, we are happy to announce that we will be hosting Alison Zak of the Human-Beaver Coexistence Fund for a Beaver Coexistence and Appreciation Presentation on Sunday, March 23rd at 12:00PM at Kingstowne Lake!*
The presentation will be at the Chancery Gazebo, which is the gazebo along the trail that goes around the lake on the side of the Chancery Condominiums.
It is open to the public; people of all ages and all who love Wally, we hope to see you there!
We hope that you will also join us for our annual Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 5th at 10:00AM at the Kingstowne Lake.
We would like to thank Tony Johnson the General Manager of KROC for his efforts to ensure positive relations with us, along with the rest of the HOA for deciding to take efforts to coexist with Wally. We are more than happy to provide resources in an effort to help as much as we are able to ensure that the integrities of the lake and the storm management system are maintained. It is our hope that we can continue to foster positive relations with one another for the sake of ourselves, the wildlife, and the environment that we mutually occupy.
We would also like to thank the various news outlets that have hosted our story: FFXnow, DC News Now, WUSA9, NBC News 4, Telemundo, and The Washington Post among others.
Go Wally!
With gratitude,
Friends of Kingstowne Lake
*In the case of inclement weather Rain-Date is Sunday, April 6th at 12:00PM
