Save W12 bus route Walthamstow Village area, invaluable, section of W12 bus route
The Issue
'We have identified that older and disabled people are more likely to be impacted by the withdrawal of W12 from Walthamstow Village, as Freedom Pass Holders account for 44% of users in this area. It is recognised that some journeys would require a 500 metre walk to access the bus networks', finding from the Inital Equality Impact Assement.
The elderly, less mobile, disabled and wheelchair users will be affected. Who are already pushed and marginalised. The W12 bus routes links to Whipps Cross Hospital and local shopping with ease. Withdrawing the Walthamstow Village service, will isolate service users. Lets keep, protect and improve lifeline bus services. The Inclusive Transport Stategy are working towards transport for all, that is accessable and affordable for all public transport.
Walthamstow Village is an extra-ordinary and unique place where it is home to, home owners and renters. There are three Sheltered housing, Homecroft, St.Marys Church House and Pelly Court. Two residential care homes and Alms houses. Local shops, Medical Centre, Resturants, cafe, three pubs, community and social halls, public services, Nursery and historical interests.
The W12 bus, is an established route, which allows and enables travel across Walthamstow, Wanstead, Snaresbrook, Woodford via Whipps Cross Hospital with ease.
The withdrawal of W12 bus from Walthamstow Village, proposed reroute restructure via Church Hill Road starts in September 2024. Going through Church yard grave yard during dark months of Autumn and winter to get to Church Hill Road for bus networks, people are raising concerns to personal saftety. Please help me and service users stop the proposed reroute restructure of the W12 bus and keep the W12 bus stops in Walthamstow Village. Connecting people, places and services.
