Vallemar School has been a beacon of excellence in our district, offering the unique K-8 educational model that so many families value and rely upon. This model fosters continuity, leadership, and a sense of belonging for students as they transition from elementary to middle school—all within a supportive and familiar environment.

Now, this cherished program is at risk. The school district has proposed eliminating the K-8 model at Vallemar, forcing students to transition to a traditional middle school while leaving Cabrillo School as the district’s only K-8 option. This decision not only disrupts the educational pathways of current and future students but also creates inequities within the district, with families vying for limited spots in the remaining K-8 program at Cabrillo.

Families chose Vallemar with the understanding that their children would benefit from the stability and opportunities of the K-8 model through 8th grade. To change this now undermines that trust and leaves families scrambling for alternatives.

We, the undersigned, call on the school board to reconsider this proposal and preserve Vallemar's K-8 program. Let’s work together to find solutions that address budget challenges while honoring the promises made to families and protecting the Pacifica School District K-8 programs which make our district exceptional.
