The Current Situation
It is clear that UWTSD’s plans to move Humanities courses to Carmarthen by September 2025 have been in development for some time. The university’s focus has been heavily weighted towards other campuses, leaving Lampeter underfunded and under-supported. This decision risks not only ending 200 years of undergraduate teaching in Lampeter but also damaging the local economy, erasing its cultural significance and impact, and diminishing Wales’s educational heritage.
