Save Underfunded School Districts

Save Underfunded School Districts
The Issue
The Issue: Government funding for the Department of Education
Only 14% of all funding for public schools is sourced from our federal government, this amount of funding, while large, does not provide nearly enough money to benefit lower income areas. The reason that lower income school districts do not have enough funding is because on average 43% of funding is locally based, this means that in areas where there is lower income there is also lower amounts of money generated through tax dollars that is able to be directed to schools.
Why should you care?: Everyone is affected
Whether you are a current student, a hard working American, a high level executive, or even a government official, the individuals who will build on the time and effort that you put in to make this nation so great are currently in our nations public schools. If our nation chooses to forget our schools and leave them to rot then our nation will see serious long-term outcomes.
Schools do not only teach students how to read, write, or do basic math. But they also teach students how to be innovative and curious about their futures and the possibilities that correlate with the American Dream. If we cannot provide thorough resources to students and faculty in our school districts then we are effortlessly failing our nation.
National security relies on the future of education as to remain competitive in global strategy our nations population must remain educated and thoughtful of every decision that is made that will affect our nation or the state of geopolitics.
The current situation: DOGE Budget Cuts/Scrutiny of the Dept. of Education
In recent events we have seen the executive branch of the United States sign executive orders to completely dismantle the Department of Education. While our executive branch continues to state that these changes will benefit our nation, there are clear examples of why this is a recipe for disaster.
- The Department of Education provides funds for special needs students under IDEA and Title 1 legislation, taking their funding means less opportunities for students with disabilities.
- College loans are also provided through the Dept. of Education, meaning that without scholarships, students who have put their all into making good grades, having extracurricular's, and serving their communities may not be able to go to college due to their financial status.
What can you do?: Sign the petition and contact your local representatives
We are the people, we make the choices to help our country, and our representatives work for us. Notify your local and state representatives to voice your concern about our nations future. By signing this petition you help our goal of illustrating our nations concern for education and the future of America.
Goal of petition: Get noticed by our nations senate or house of representatives.
By gathering signatures you allow this petition to gather strength in the eyes of our government. If our representatives can be shown that our nation cares about the future of education, there will be more emphasis put into the details of how funding for our nations schools are funded.
