As everyone has been made aware derby city council plan on closing Uncle Tom cabin and knocking down the 3 huts on Osnabruck Square to fit their development plans for the market hall. 

Uncle Tom's cabin and the family that run it have served the people of derby for over 68 year and is more than just a café to most. It's the heart of Osnabruck Square where everyone is welcome for a chat or to simply sit outside at the table and watch the world go by.

It's become a place a friendship and support for a lot of people of all ages, all backgrounds and from all walks of life. The square will not be the same without it and the business will suffer if forced to move into the market hall upon completion. 

So the people of derby are asking the council to find a way for uncles Tom's to be kept on Osnabruck Square,  Uncle Tom's are more than happy to work with the council on said facelift and just want the chance to be considered or integrated into an nice out door cafe on the square. For all to enjoy. This isn't about saving the hut they serve from but a chance to keep the business they built as it is
