Petition to Somerset Council: Retain Trull Ridge as a Green Wedge

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask Somerset Council not to approve the recommendation to remove Trull Ridge from Green Wedge designation within the current Green Wedge Review.
Trull Ridge provides an essential landscape function by maintaining a clear and defensible separation between Taunton and the village of Trull. This separation is a long‑established planning objective that helps prevent settlement coalescence, supports sustainable development patterns, and protects the distinct identities of both communities.
The removal of Green Wedge status would significantly weaken this protection and risks undermining the spatial strategy that has shaped the area for decades.
We therefore urge the Council to:
• Reject the recommendation to remove Trull Ridge from Green Wedge designation
• Retain Trull Ridge as a Green Wedge to preserve the separation between Taunton and Trull
• Acknowledge the strong community support for maintaining this important landscape buffer
Trull Ridge is a valued and strategic green space. Its continued protection is in the public interest
