We’re panicking - 2 year old Cal will be deported to Manus Island in a matter of days. I look after this little boy at daycare, but unless he’s granted an urgent visa he’ll be removed from his Brisbane family.

Craig and Karen Wells adopted Cal as a toddler to save him from being sold to a village in PNG by his biological parents. But despite their ongoing efforts, the government have denied his right to a permanent visa in Australia.

It’s frightening - if little Cal’s deported he’ll have no family to support him and we’re fearful he could get traded between villages. He’s such a happy and cheeky kid, it’s heartbreaking to think he could now get ripped apart from his adoptive parents.

And what’s more shameful is that the Immigration Department have told media they’re “aware of the case”, but aren’t acting. Immigration Minister, please, we urgently need you to grant this little boy residency with his Australian parents.
