The situation at Khan Al Ahmar and at the Tyre School is more dangerous than ever. Israel’s Prime Minister, Netanyahu, in several occasions declared that the demolition of the village is a priority of his Government. "Khan al-Ahmar will be demolished very soon, but I am not saying when. We are prepared for it", he said in November.
But in recent weeks, he said that “it would certainly help” if the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar is demolished before the April elections. He’s using bedouins' lives for political matters.
A few days ago, soldiers delivered to the bedouin community a document which states that soon the village will be declared a military area. There’s no date for that, yet. But it could happen at anytime. And it will mean that villagers won’t be able to get out of Khan al Ahmar, and many children and teachers won’t be able to reach the school. International delegates have started again to visit the village. People of all kinds are showing solidarity. An example of this is the Sorbonne Professor Frank Romano, which was arrested while in the village and he started a hunger strike in order to not being forced to repatriate.
