Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I posted an update here. As you may imagine, since the drag show is over, I've had numerous other events pile on top of me as a regular college student: final projects, exams, organization responsibilities, and more. We're all still powering through and taking this movement at full strength against Wendler and his associates. The fight is still not over, even though the show is.
Speaking of the show, I want to thank everybody who went and donated to the GoFundMe that was started to raise funds for the drag show that was held on March 31st. It went off without a hitch, and we had so much fun while raising money. Including the money we earned in tips for the performance and deducting the cost of production, we managed to raise over $9,000 dollars for the Trevor Project, which is absolutely mind-blowing! You all are truly wonderful people for helping out such a good cause.
Although the drag show has passed, we are still planning on putting on weekly protests. The most likely date for these protests is every Thursday at 12:15 pm at the Buffalo Fountain in the center of campus, if any of you want to come out and show some love.
I most likely will be shutting down this petition within the next few weeks as the school year winds down and litigation is pending. Unfortunately, we likely will not see a decision made until several months from now, as there are a lot of legal hoops to jump through in this process. Still, I want you all to know that you are making a remarkable difference in all you've done with sharing and blowing up this petition. This really means the world to me as a queer student just wanting to fight for what's right. This has been a wild ride, and it wouldn't have happened if not for you. Thank you.
For now, I ask you all to go spread love to another petition linked here, which is calling for Walter Wendler to step down as President of WTAMU. If we got even half the signatures on that petition as we have on this petition, that would be fantastic.
With much love and thanks,
K Klein
