Save The Wooden Playscape at Patterson Park!

Save The Wooden Playscape at Patterson Park!
The Issue
To the Grosse Pointe Park Foundation,
We, the undersigned, urge the foundation to consider preserving the old wooden playscape located at Patterson Park and explore alternative options that would address the ADA compliance and maintenance issues.
The current playscape has been a beloved part of our community for over 30 years and is a symbol of the community spirit and the value we place on nature and the environment. We understand that the current structure is not ADA compliant and needs maintenance, but we strongly believe that it is worth preserving.
Instead of replacing the old playscape with a new metal structure, we suggest exploring alternative options that would create a natural play area that is both safe and accessible. We suggest looking at examples such as the Belle Isle Nature Center or the natural play structures offered by Bears Playgrounds. These options would provide a unique and engaging play experience for children while still preserving the natural beauty and charm of the current location.
We understand that creating a natural play area may require more effort and resources than replacing the old playscape with a new metal structure. However, we believe that it is worth the investment to provide a one-of-a-kind play experience that reflects the values and priorities of our community.
In conclusion, we urge the Grosse Pointe Park Foundation to listen to the voice of the community and consider alternative options that would preserve the natural beauty and charm of the old playscape while addressing the ADA compliance and maintenance issues. We believe that this would be a positive step towards creating a more inclusive and engaging community space that reflects the values and priorities of our community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
The undersigned.
