Hello Friend of the Windham Path,
You are receiving this email because you signed a petition urging the Town of Windham to preserve the Windham Path as it currently exists – an accessible, quiet and serene place to walk and exercise and peacefully experience nature. The Town Board is considering a plan to relocate the Mountain Top Little League ballfield at the Windham Path which would change the nature and character of the Path forever.
Those of us that oppose the building of a ballfield complex on the Windham Path will gather together at the Windham Town Board meeting this Wednesday, 5/8 at 7:00pm. Consider what is at stake and please show up! Bring your family, friends and neighbors, and please spread the word.
We will actively and fully support the Mountain Top Little League in finding a suitable alternative to relocate their field. There are several viable options, and we need to urge the Town Board to find a solution that will meet the needs of the Little League kids and families while preserving the beloved Windham Path.
Please join us to save the Windham Path this Wednesday, 5/8 at 7:00pm at the Windham Town Hall located at 371 NY-296, Hensonville, NY 12439.
If you are unable to attend, please support us and let your voice be heard by sending an email to the Town Supervisor and Board members at: windhamnysupervisor@gmail.com, wayne@townofwindhamny.com, ian@townofwindhamny.com and kurt@townofwindhamny.com. We encourage your own thoughts and comments, but a sample email follows for your convenience.
Thank you for caring about the Windham Path.
SAMPLE LETTER TO TOWN SUPERVISOR AND BOARD MEMBERS:
Dear Windham Town Supervisor/Board Member,
I am writing to urge you NOT to relocate the Mountain Top Little League ballfield or any associated facilities on the Windham Path. The Windham Path is unique and special, and the Town of Windham should proudly protect this wonderful resource.
Unlike walking paths found in many town parks, the Windham Path is a natural viewshed, unbroken by structures. The sounds of the Windham Path are the sounds of nature unspoiled by hubbub. The Windham Path is an accessible, quiet and serene place to walk and exercise and peacefully experience nature. It is a dear commodity in today’s world, a place to preserve.
There ARE viable alternative locations for the Mountain Top Little League facilities and I urge you not to take this path of least resistance, but rather, to find a solution that will preserve the Windham Path and meet the needs of the Little League. Where there is a will there is a way!!
I urge you to be judicious with taxpayer dollars and to fulfill your role as elected officials in representing all of your constituents and businesses, and ensure the best future for the Town of Windham.
In solidarity with all of the users of the Windham Path – full-time residents, second-home owners and visitors to Windham, I implore you to preserve, in perpetuity, the Windham Path as it currently exists.
I respectfully request that this correspondence be read aloud at your next scheduled Town Board meeting and entered into the meeting minutes.
Thank you for your service to the Town of Windham.
